Bacon Bits …

Francis Bacon has always been a scientific hero of mine … for a guy who lived 400 years ago, he had
some pretty profound things to say … see below for some highlights.

There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the
proportion.

A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.

If a man will begin in certainties he shall end in doubts; but if he
will be content to begin in doubts he shall end in certainties.

Reading makes a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact
man.

Read not to contradict and confute…nor to find talk and discourse, but
to weigh and consider.

By far the best proof is experience.

A prudent question is one half of wisdom.

For the mind of man is far from the nature of a clear and equal glass,
wherein the beams of things should reflect according to their true
incidence; nay, it is rather like an enchanted glass, full of
superstition and imposture, if it be not delivered and reduced.

Sir Francis Bacon (1561 – 1626)

Excellent stuff there 🙂
